The room must be kept clean throughout the installation process. Empty boxes can be used to protect the floor from nails or other objects that could cause damage.
Maintain the relative humidity level at between 35% and 50% all year long in order to minimize the expansion and contraction of your hardwood floor.

Regularly sweep or vacuum the floor.
Place doormats outside and rugs inside every entrance.
Use protectors under all furniture and narrow casters. Avoid plastic casters.
Refrigerators or other heavy objects should never be moved without proper floor protection.
Place them on a rug, wrong side up, and slide the rug.
Beware of sharp objects and damaged high heels that can permanently damage your floor.
Never pour cleaner directly onto the floor.
Never allow a liquid spill to remain on the floor.
Never use wax, oil based detergent, or any household cleaner. These may dull or damage the finish, leaving a greasy film and making the floor slippery and more difficult to clean.
