EB-TY Deck Fastening Systems

General Description
The EB-TY was born out of the frustration of trying to make other deck
fasteners work. Builders in need of an efficient way to install decking without
visible fasteners developed the EB-TY system.
Other common fasteners eliminate fastening through the top deck surface, but
either show prominently from below on a second floor deck, or rely on steel
holding teeth that bend in tough hardwoods such as Ipé, an increasingly
common deck choice in the high-end residential market.
The EB-TY will prove to be the most attractive deck fastener along with
the most efficient and productive installation.
Advantages of the EB-TY fastening system
No scarring or fasteners visible.
Only (1) EB-TY and one (1) screw are required at joist and deck
board intersection.
All work is done from top side
Spacing of deck boards is automatically set at 3/32
EB-TYs are essentially invisible from top or bottom of the deck.
The dark color blends with the shadow line of the joints.
EB-TY system is economical, labor saving and attractive.
Sets all deck boards to a level and uniform height.
Relieves the stress caused by natural shrinkage of the deck boards.
Easy to resurface.
EB-TY system was designed for use with all decking materials.
Decks are safer with EB-TY.
The system is maintenance free.
EB-TY is formed of UV resistant polypropylene, which has a 100-year
life span.
The EB-TY fastening system box contains
175 EB-TY fasteners
190 stainless steel screws
12 wood plugs
One box of The EB-TY Fastening System covers:
5 ½ boards w/24 joist spacing = 1 EB-TY per sq ft
5 ½ boards w/16 joist spacing = 1.75 EB-TY per sq.
ft.
3 ½ boards w/24 joist spacing = 2 EB-TY per sq. ft.
3 ½ boards w/16 joist spacing = 2.75 EB-TY per sq.

Swaneze Stainless Steel Screws

For Ipé and Cambara decking, we suggest #7 Swaneze stainless steel finishing screws, manufactured by Swansecure.. Due to their superior corrosion resistance and strength, these fasteners have proven ideal for decking.
Stainless steel is a practical choice because it will not discolor decking boards over time, whereas standard steel screws may rust or corrode, immediately resulting in unattractive stains, and in long-term structural damage. Swaneze stainless steel finishing screws will eliminate the need for long-term fastener maintenance.
Swaneze stainless steel screws have maximum holding power, supporting loads up to 20% heavier than standard steel screws. The wire used to produce the screws can hold up to 145,000 pounds per square inch.
Ipé and Cambara are high density woods, and for this reason tend to
have a blunting effect on tools. Bearing this in mind, we recommended pre-drilling
pilot holes for your Swaneze stainless steel finishing screws. We carry both
15/8 " and 2 1/4 " length screws.
